"Не дуже зручний співробітник": Леся Українка в журналі "Жизнь" (1900–1901)

Abstract

Мета цієї статті – простежити мотиви й шляхи співробітництва Лесі Українки в петербурзькому літературно-політичному журналі "Жизнь", грунтуючись передусім на її листуванні того часу (1899–1901). Використано джерелознавчий аналіз епістолярної спадщини Лесі Українки, що базується на хронологічно-типологічній характеристиці життєвої і творчої біографістики письменниці й публіцистки; систематизації фактів і висловлювань, пов’язаних із функціонуванням журналу "Жизнь", його співробітниками, творчими планами Лесі Українки. З’ясовано, що серед основних мотивів співробітництва Лесі Українки з петербурзьким місячником були такі: демократичне спрямування журналу, авторитет його авторів і працівників, можливість бути принциповим оглядачем і пропагандистом українського та європейського письменства, а також матеріальні стимули.

The aim of this article is to trace the motives and ways of cooperation of Lesia Ukrainka in the St. Petersburg literary and political magazine «Zhyzn / Life», based primarily on her correspondence of this time (1899–1901). The source analysis of the epistolary heritage of Lesia Ukrainka is used, it is based on the chronological and typological characteristics of the life and creative biography of the writer and publicist; systematization of facts and statements related to the functioning of the magazine «Zhyzn / Life», its employees, the creative plans of Lesya Ukrainka. The main motives for Lesia Ukrainka’s cooperation with the St. Petersburg monthly were the democratic direction of the magazine, the authority of the authors and employees of the magazine, the opportunity to be a principled reviewer and propagandist of Ukrainian and European literature, and material incentives.
